West Blatchington is home to a Grade II listed smock Windmill which sits in the centre of what is now a residential area. The mill is hexagonal in plan, compared to most smock mills which are octagonal. St Peter’s Church is another building of historical interest, with its origins in the 12th century. The church was rebuilt from a ruined state in the late 19th century and extended in the 1930s so little of the original building remains today. As the area grew quickly during the interwar period, many of the houses are typical of this period with a mixture of red-brick and mock Tudor detached and semi-detached properties.
